Asheville-Buncombe Community Land Trust was born when Asheville residents began organizing to address the injustices of urban renewal and the increasing cost of living in our area.

We serve all of Buncombe County with a primary focus on historically Black neighborhoods in the City of Asheville.

Apply for a Home

With ABCLT, you will no longer have to worry about costly rent or being displaced by your landlord. From the moment you contact us, we will guide you through the process of purchasing your home.

What is a CLT?

Community Land Trusts (CLTs) hold land “in trust” for the benefit of the community while also removing it from the speculative market. The CLT model was founded in response to mistreatment of Black farmers during the civil rights movement and there are over 260 CLTs across the United States today. This model creates permanent affordability by reducing the purchase price of the home to provide homeownership opportunities for lower-income residents. Ownership of the land is retained by the CLT and leased to the buyer via a long-term ground lease.

Our latest project

Thanks to generous donations, we completed renovations on a home in the East End neighborhood. Now, this house is both permanently affordable AND a beautiful place to call home.
