The Asheville-Buncombe Community Land Trust (“ABCLT”) is hiring a Part-time Interim Executive Director. This first hire of the ABCLT will be responsible for launching the organization’s services and stewardship of properties for permanently affordable housing in Asheville and Buncombe County, in addition to fundraising and community partnership building. Please see the full Job Description attached. 

All interested parties should submit cover letters and resumes to info@abclt.org no later than December 8th, with initial interviews beginning the week of December 16th, and a final hiring decision made at the ABCLT Board meeting on January 6th. This half-time position can begin as early as January 13th, 2020. The candidate selected for this time-limited position is fully eligible to apply for the Full Time Executive Director position when that hiring process begins (depending on available funding) around the time of July, 2020. 

All cover letters should address the following three questions: 

  1. Why do you want to lead the ABCLT?
  2. What is your experience with real estate and/or financing?
  3. What is your experience working with diverse communities and your demonstrated commitment to social justice issues?

Membership Overview

The ABCLT is a membership-based nonprofit that is controlled by its members. All ABCLT homeowners are members, and other people in the community may also join. All general members have a say in the direction of the ABCLT through voting at the annual membership meeting.

As a general member, you will:

  • Help create and maintain housing that will remain permanently affordable.
  • Participate in meetings of the Membership. 
  • Cast 1 vote on matters properly put before the Membership.
  • Nominate and participate in the election of the Board of Directors.
  • Serve on the Board or committees, if chosen.
  • Receive notices and minutes of Membership Meetings and Annual Reports.
  • You are invited to attend trainings and events.

As a supporting member, you will:

  • Help create and maintain housing that will remain permanently affordable. 
  • Participate in meetings of the Membership. 
  • Serve on the Board or committees, if chosen.
  • Receive notices and minutes of Membership Meetings and Annual Reports.
  • You are invited to attend trainings and events.

The annual membership fee is $25/year or 2 hours of sweat equity.
