Zalika calls Hendersonville, NC home. She graduated from Hendersonville High School in 2012, went to East Carolina University her freshman year of college, and then relocated to Greensboro to attend UNC-Greensboro. After many changes in her major, she finally settled on being a Sociology major with a concentration in Criminology. This change came from Zalika realizing that she had a passion and empathy for overlooked populations and the way that the systems are keeping them from obtaining a comfortable way of living. After graduating in 2017, Zalika moved back to Hendersonville in 2018 and then to Asheville in 2019. All of her professional experience has been within the non-profit sector and has been advocating for at-risk communities. These communities have included domestic violence survivors and delinquent juveniles. Through working with these communities, she found that she has a hidden passion for helping African-Americans and other people of color; and educating them with the knowledge that they were never given. With this opportunity to work with ABCLT, she is excited to reach as many people as she can and continue this mission.
